A lot of these people just want instant adulation. Playing in dingy, DIY basements isn't their jam.

And I am 100 percent cool with them getting all the adulation they want. But, in hopes I am not an old white guy punker who USED TO BE relevant in a tiny corner of music, the never ending discussion is simply killing me. My main man @Seth Werkheiser is stilll an active player in music, and so I get fed lots of things by Substack related. And it drives me nuts. I mean, I adore @Matty C because it is simply write songs, play shows, tell cool stories about the adventure. But, so much is NOT that. So much is lamenting Spotify, lamenting whatever. And not about the art of it all, the fucking joy of being on stage, the girls, the boys, the drugs, the drinks, the fights. That story in the Led Zepplin book about a shark, or the Doors book about so much, has been reduced to how to hot wire the algorithm, how to get traction for whatever, or how to go viral. Fucking James Brown never cared about viral. Al Green never cared about the algorithm. There are stages in the world to play. I remember in the Lucero documentary when the drummer talked about finally quitting his pizza job. Now we all want to be Logan Paul.
